Principal's Message

Dear Celina Jr. High School Families,

Let me be the first to welcome you back for what is sure to be a fantastic school year for your child! We have been hard at work the last few weeks planning and preparing for the return of our students and teachers.

I am honored to be the principal of Celina Jr. High School.  The excitement for education is throughout the school, and I am thrilled to get the opportunity to be a part of such a wonderful environment. Every day is a great day to be a part of CISD and the CJH family! I am committed to serving our students and community in a cooperative and supporting way.

Here is some important information for the start of the school year.
School starts at 8:00 am each morning and ends at 3:30 pm. Students will be able to access the building at 7:30 am to go the cafeteria or gym where there is adult supervision. Students will be released at 7:55 am from the cafeteria or gym to go to their first-period class. Please understand that students arriving at school before 7:30 am will not be able to enter the building. To ensure student safety, we cannot allow students on campus unsupervised before teacher start times. Coach Elliot will have more detailed information regarding arrivals for students with early morning athletics. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

“It’s the Rule…Shots Before School!” Texas Dept. of State Health Services requires returning students be current with all required immunizations before the first day of school, Monday, August 21, 2017. Students whose immunization records are incomplete—or do not have a current vaccination exemption certificate on file by the first day of school—will not be admitted to class. Students with incomplete shot records will not receive their class schedule during scheduled pickup on August 8, 2017. Should you have any questions you can contact your pediatrician or the CJH school nurse, Mrs. Hawthorn email: Having had middle school and high school children myself, I know how important it can be to track your child’s progress, check to see if they are turning in their work on time, etc. Parents will still be able to access their child’s grades through Parent Portal. Students can pick up schedules here at the Jr. High on August 8, 2017. On the subject of schedules, please understand that once school starts, schedule changes are complicated. We will not change schedules to adjust electives classes, and academic changes will only be made when essential for student academic success.

This summer, we have been busy hiring an amazing group of educators to complement the already outstanding staff of CJH. We have added the following outstanding staff members to our ranks.
Ms. Alexis Graves for Theater Arts
Mr. Adam McCarter 7th Science
Mr. Sam Hemby as Instructional Aid.

We have spent the past several months interviewing dozens of candidates to find the very best educators to work with your children. There is no more important job performed by principals than ensuring a highly qualified and dedicated staff to serve the children and families of their schools. I hope you will help me warmly welcome our new team members as we embark on a fantastic first year together. On a slightly different note, we will be looking for a community member and a business representative for our Campus Advisory Team. The community member must not have children at CJH(though they can have grandchildren) and the business representative CAN have students at CJH (but doesn’t have to as long as it is a Celina area business). Just contact me via email if you are interested in joining our team or know someone who might be. If we can help or support you in any way, please don’t hesitate to reach out to a teacher, counselor, administrator or other office staff member. We appreciate and value your partnership and, together, we’ll keep living the dream at CJH!

Please do not hesitate to contact me with any suggestions, concerns, or questions. Thank you for your trust and supports in helping us attain our vision to inspire and equip students to be life-long learners and active contributors to the world.
